Toyin Adegbola, popularly known as Toyin Tomato, has paid a heartfelt tribute to veteran actor Kola Oyewo following news of his death at the age of 80.

The passing of the revered thespian was announced by actor Kunle Afod, who described Oyewo as a true legend whose remarkable talent, timeless performances, and immense contributions to Nigerian theatre and film would never be forgotten.

Reacting to the sad news, Toyin Tomato took to her Instagram page to honour the late actor, reflecting on his impactful life and distinguished career.

The actress said Oyewo lived a fulfilled life, noting that death is an inevitable part of human existence and one that should be accepted as God’s will.

She praised the late actor as an exceptional dancer, lecturer, father figure, grandfather and mentor whose legacy would continue to inspire generations.

Toyin also expressed gratitude for the opportunity to celebrate Oyewo’s 80th birthday with him on April 18, 2026, describing the occasion as a cherished memory she would hold dear forever.

In her emotional message, she wrote: “Uncle K, as you are fondly called, you came, you saw and you conquered. Death is inevitable, and we are not permitted to question God. You have gone to be with your Creator, and I am certain you are seated by His right hand.

“You were a great dancer, lecturer, uncle, father and grandfather. How blessed I am to have celebrated your 80th birthday with you. That memory will linger forever.”

She further lamented the loss of the veteran actor, popularly known as the Balogun of Oba-Ile, saying he would be greatly missed by family, friends, colleagues and admirers.

“Goodnight, my dear brother,” she concluded.

Kola Oyewo was widely respected for his outstanding contributions to the Nigerian entertainment industry and academia, leaving behind a legacy that has continued to shape theatre and film in the country.
