Governor of Zamfara State, Dr. Dauda Lawal, has commended security operatives for their dedication and resilience in the ongoing fight against banditry following the successful recovery of hundreds of stolen livestock from criminal elements in the state.

The commendation came after operatives of the Violence Crime Response Unit (VCRU) of the Zamfara State Police Command carried out a successful operation in the Gambanda Forest, located in Gummi Local Government Area, on Saturday.

During the operation, security personnel recovered 329 cattle and 175 sheep believed to have been stolen by bandits. Weapons and ammunition were also seized from the criminals.

Reacting to the development, Governor Lawal described the police command’s renewed efforts as a positive step in addressing insecurity across the state.

“I commend the efforts of all security operatives in Zamfara State, particularly the Zamfara State Police Command, for their resilience, bravery, and commitment in recovering 329 cattle, 175 sheep, as well as weapons and ammunition from bandits,” the governor said.

According to him, the operatives engaged the bandits in a fierce confrontation within the Gambanda Forest and successfully overpowered them, leading to the recovery of the livestock and other items.

Governor Lawal noted that the achievement underscores the determination of security agencies to protect lives and property while safeguarding the livelihoods of residents affected by criminal activities.

He further praised the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Muhammad Bello, stating that his strategic direction has contributed significantly to recent successes recorded in the fight against banditry and efforts to improve public safety in the state.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies with the resources and collaboration needed to sustain ongoing operations against criminal groups.

He expressed optimism that continued cooperation between government and security forces would further strengthen efforts to restore peace and stability across Zamfara State.
