The founder of the Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention and Deliverance Ministry, Prophet Chukwuemeka Odumeje, has criticised the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, over his remarks that President Bola Tinubu is doing his best to tackle Nigeria’s security challenges.
Speaking during a recent sermon, Odumeje said Christian leaders have a biblical responsibility to rebuke governments when they fail, rather than seek favour from those in authority.
The cleric urged religious leaders to speak truth to power, stressing that he would not join issues with Adeboye personally but disagreed with his position on the current administration.
“I don’t want to talk to Adeboye; I don’t want to talk to that man. Do you know what they call a pastor? Go to the Bible, a pastor must rebuke a bad government. They shouldn’t look to benefit from it. We are fathers in the Lord,” he said.
Odumeje maintained that God raised him to speak the truth, adding that those who challenge what he described as bad governance often face intimidation.
He also criticised the management of Nigeria’s resources, arguing that elected officials are public servants who owe citizens accountability rather than praise.
According to him, governors, senators and the president are elected to serve Nigerians and should be held responsible for how public funds are managed.
The cleric further lamented that many Nigerians celebrate basic infrastructure projects that should ordinarily be routine responsibilities of government.
He insisted that roads and other public projects are funded with taxpayers’ money, not the personal resources of elected officials, and therefore should not be treated as special favours to the people.
