Tinubu Orders Immediate Rescue of Niger Abduction Victims
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the immediate commencement of a coordinated rescue operation for victims of the recent mass abduction in Niger State, directing the military, police, Department of State Services and other security and intelligence agencies to ensure that all the abducted citizens are brought home safely.
The President also directed the Service Chiefs to provide him with regular updates on the operation until every victim is accounted for, as he expressed outrage over the abduction and killing of innocent residents by criminal elements.
Tinubu described the attackers as “enemies of peace and enemies of humanity” and vowed that they would not escape justice.
In a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President assured families affected by the attack that the Federal Government would deploy the resources required to secure the victims and reinforce security in the affected communities.
“We will not rest until your sons, daughters, mothers and fathers are brought back safely to you,” Tinubu said while consoling the victims’ families.
The President expressed sympathy to the relatives of those killed in what he described as a “barbaric assault”, praying for the repose of the victims’ souls and strength for their loved ones.
“Those who carried out this cowardly attack on defenceless Nigerians are enemies of peace and enemies of humanity, who will not go scot-free,” he said.
Tinubu assured residents of Niger State that the Federal Government would provide the necessary support for the rescue effort, recovery and strengthening of security across communities affected by the attack.
“You are not alone. The entire nation shares your anguish,” the President said.
He further vowed that the latest attack would not weaken the government’s determination to confront terrorism, kidnapping and other violent crimes threatening communities across the country.
“Terror will not cow Nigeria. We will defend our people, protect our communities, and uphold the sanctity of human life,” Tinubu declared.
The President said his thoughts and prayers were with the people of Niger State during the difficult period, assuring the state government of the Federal Government’s full support.
“The Federal Government stands firmly with the State Government and will provide all necessary support to aid recovery, relief, and security reinforcement,” he said.
