The Governor of Kano state, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje has said that his deputy, Professor Hafiz Abubakar resigned from his position to escape ongoing impeachment process against him by the state House of Assembly.

In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba, the governor said professor Abubakar’s resignation inevitably came up following a decision made by 30 out of the 40 legislators in the Kano State House of Assembly to begin a process of impeachment against him.

The deputy governor was accused of making unguarded comments capable of causing disaffection in the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) and the state.

The governor in the statement alleged that his erstwhile deputy who doubled as commissioner for Education publicly rejected the present government in the state.
