An aide to the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has reaffirmed that his principal remains firmly in contention for his party’s governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 election in Oyo State.
Speaking during an interactive session with supporters in Ibadan, Comrade Femi Awogboro dismissed speculation that the party leadership had already settled for a preferred candidate, stressing that no official endorsement has been made.
He maintained that Adelabu’s ambition is gaining momentum through ongoing consultations with key stakeholders across the political spectrum, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Awogboro expressed confidence in the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), both at the state and national levels, to deliver a transparent and credible primary process capable of producing a strong candidate for the polls.
According to him, internal engagements within the party are focused on promoting equity, justice, and unity as preparations intensify for the 2027 elections.
Describing Adelabu as a formidable aspirant, Awogboro pointed to his experience in both the public and private sectors, as well as his current role in advancing reforms in Nigeria’s power sector.
He urged party members to avoid divisive rhetoric and instead prioritise grassroots mobilisation to strengthen the party’s chances.
“We must continue to work harmoniously for the progress of APC in Oyo State and support President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda beyond 2027. Victory for APC starts with unity at the primary stage,” he said.
Awogboro also conveyed Adelabu’s appreciation to the people of Oyo State for their continued support, describing it as overwhelming and indicative of strong grassroots backing.
He assured supporters that Adelabu remains committed to their expectations and would not disappoint if given the opportunity to contest.
