Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, is currently in Houston, Texas, United States of America, actively engaging in efforts to attract investors to the country’s aviation industry.

This was made known by Tunde Moshood, the minister’s special assistant on media and communications, in a statement made available to newsheadline247.

The minister had the honor of being a guest at the Fidelity International Trade & Creative Connect event, which took place at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas.

During this event, he had the opportunity to meet with Sylvester Turner, the Mayor of Houston, Texas, along with his team members. The meeting was also attended by prominent members of the Nigerian community residing in the United States. “I spoke with the Mayor of Houston Texas, and his team to advance talks regarding the resumption of direct flights from Houston to Nigeria”, the Minister informed.

Keyamo, during this crucial meeting,  expressed Nigeria’s readiness to welcome foreign investors into the country’s aviation industry with open arms. This signifies the government’s commitment to creating a conducive environment and providing investment opportunities in the aviation sector.

By actively seeking international partnerships and investments, the Nigerian government aims to strengthen the aviation industry, enhance infrastructure, and foster growth. These efforts will not only benefit the country’s economy but also contribute to the development of a robust and competitive aviation sector within Nigeria.

Minister Festus Keyamo’s presence at the Fidelity International Trade & Creative Connect event in Houston, Texas, showcases the government’s dedication to promoting the country’s aviation sector and fostering mutually beneficial collaborations with international stakeholders.

According to Moshood, the minister also discussed other area of diplomatic interest as the two envoys had a fruitful discussion on the proposed opening of a Nigerian consulate in Houston.

The Mayor, Sylvester Turner, had visited Nigeria early this year, 2023, to discuss the possibility of resuming United Airlines flights and opening a Nigerian consulate in Houston.

Keyamo’s visit also saw him touring the fast developing Aerospace of the city in Elington. “During my visit to Houston, I also took time to visit the fast developing Aerospace of the city in Elington.

“I met Mr. Arturo Machuca, Director of Elington Airport and Houston Spacesport and his team who did a detailed presentation to us and conducted us round the Aerospace. We were well guided on the development of our own Aerospace,” the minister spoke on his tour of the aerospace facility.
