Awori Leaders Rally Behind Tinubu’s Second-Term Bid, Declare Support for Hamzat and Yayi
Awori Nation 4 Bola Ahmed Tinubu has thrown its weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term ambition ahead of the 2027 general elections, while also endorsing Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, for Lagos Governor and Senator Olamilekan Solomon “Yayi” for Ogun State Governor.
The political endorsement, announced by leaders of the Awori socio-political movement, signals a major boost for the ruling All Progressives Congress in Lagos and Ogun States, where the Awori people remain one of the most influential Yoruba sub-ethnic groups.
The group said its decision was driven by the perceived achievements of the endorsed leaders in infrastructure development, inclusiveness and grassroots empowerment, pledging full mobilization across Lagos, Ogun and the diaspora to ensure victory for the APC in 2027.
According to the leaders, the Awori people remain committed to Tinubu’s leadership despite longstanding complaints of marginalization in areas of human capital and physical development affecting Awori communities spread across Lagos and parts of Ogun State.
The Aworis, who occupy large areas of Lagos State and sections of Ogun State, are regarded as a critical voting bloc with strong political influence across both states. Over the years, there have been repeated agitations from the group over what many describe as inadequate representation and limited developmental attention despite their consistent electoral support.
Notwithstanding those concerns, the group reaffirmed its loyalty to the APC and declared total support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid, alongside the governorship aspirations of Hamzat in Lagos and Senator Yayi in Ogun State.
Political observers believe the endorsement could further strengthen early permutations ahead of the 2027 elections, especially within key APC structures in the South-West.
