Binani Dumps ADC, Joins NDC in Fresh Political Shake-Up in Adamawa

A fresh wave of political realignment has hit Adamawa State as Aishatu Binani, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the 2023 election, officially announced her defection to the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).

Binani made the declaration on Friday, signaling yet another shift in her political journey amid ongoing party disputes.

Her move comes less than a year after she left the APC in July 2025 for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), citing a breakdown in her relationship with the party’s state leadership.

However, her stay in the ADC was short-lived. By April 2026, cracks had already emerged within the party, as reports surfaced of a faction loyal to Binani pulling out over disagreements surrounding internal congress arrangements.

The latest defection underscores the persistent instability within party structures in Adamawa, raising questions about alliances and strategies ahead of future elections.
