Nigerian singer Emoseh Khamofu, popularly known as Bloody Civilian, has revealed that her journey as an artiste has significantly changed her perspective on life and the traditional values she was raised with.

Speaking during a recent episode of the Not Just On podcast, the 26-year-old singer said some of the expectations placed on women from Northern Nigeria no longer resonate with her.

The singer disclosed that despite her family’s repeated conversations about marriage, she currently has no interest in settling down.

According to her, her family struggles to understand that marriage is not among her immediate priorities, even though they continue to bring up the subject.

Bloody Civilian explained that her career in the entertainment industry has broadened her outlook and influenced how she perceives societal expectations and family traditions.

“One thing my family still does not understand about being an artiste is that certain conventional things they expect of a woman from the North are simply not things I am excited to do,” she said.

“For instance, marriage is not something I am thinking of at all. But that question keeps being brought up.”

Her remarks have sparked conversations about societal expectations, particularly the pressure on women to marry and the evolving perspectives of young Nigerian professionals and creatives.
