Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has approved congregational Eid prayers despite steady rise coronavirus cases in the state.

The governor’s special adviser on media, Salihu Tanko Yakasai, explained that the government took the decision after a meeting between Ganduje and religious leaders in the state, on Monday.

The development comes less than 24 hours after President Muhammadu Buhari extended the lockdown in the state by two weeks.

Yakasai said the decision is based on the recommendation from 30 Islamic scholars in the state.
