A revelation that was perhaps not known to many people has come into the open about the senator currently representing Ogun West, Senator Tolu Odebiyi, an online news platform based in the state, Ogun News Express, has reported.

According to the report, some documents and sources have revealed that Odebiyi hailed from Okemesi in Ekiti State contrary to the belief that he hails from Iboro in Yewa area of Ogun West.

Senator Odebiyi was the Chief of Staff to the immediate past governor of the State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun and he went to the senate on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2019 general elections.

It was gathered that he even filled Okemesi in his resume before he started working with former governor Amosun, the report said.

His father, the late Chief Jonathan Odebiyi, was the Minority Leader in the Second Republic Senate on the platform of the defunct Unity Party of Nigeria.

Odebiyi was born on April 23, 1956 in Okemesi-Ekiti.

Those who know the senator well said that his family house in Okemesi is very popular and that those who know him well know that the family hails from Okemesi in Ekiti State.

“There is no doubt about that. The family of Odebiyi only came to settle in Iboro are of Yewa in Ogun State many years back. I can confirm to you that Tolu Odebiyi is not from Ogun State,” said a source who pleaded anonymity.

What surprises many people is why Odebiyi has been silent about his state of origin when it is not new that people come from particular places before they settle down where they are currently and wondered why he could not go to his home state to contest election.

“It is time for Odebiyi’s to go back to Ekiti’ and be slugging it out with Fayose and co,. He should allow those who are genuinely from Yewa in Ogun State to serve their people,” said a source, who added that it is now obvious why Odebiyi has not done much for the people of Ogun West since he got to the red chamber over two years ago.

Tolu Odebiyi’s working career spans several real estate development projects both in the United States and Nigeria. He was at a time responsible for the generation and brokerage of commercial and residential transactions in excess of $150million in the United States.

He sat for his West African School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) in Okemesi Grammar School, Okemesi-Ekiti, and did Higher School Certificate (HSC) in Polytechnic, Ibadan.

He has B.Sc degree in building construction and engineering technology, Wentworth Institute of Technology, Boston Massachusetts.
