Senator Monday Okpebholo was declared the winner of the Edo State governorship election, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday following a keenly contested gubernatorial poll.
Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress candidate, secured 291,667 votes, winning in eleven of the eighteen Local Government Areas.
His closest rival, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party, received 247,274 votes, while Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party finished third with 22,761 votes.
