The people of Ekiti state will today elect their governor for the next four years amidst tension following crisis-ridden election build-up.

The voting exercise will be at 2,195 polling units and 2,803 voting point across the state and barring any unforeseen circumstances, the election is widely believed to be a two-horse race between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Despite the tension-soaked pre-election activities, it hoped that the process would be peaceful and credible.

The Ekiti poll, being an in-road to the country’s general election is being closely monitored by local and foreign observers.

It is the litmus test for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to demonstrate its preparedness for the 2019 general election.

However,  The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi warned against any form of violence and calling on politicians to allow peace to reign.
