FAAC Disburses Record N1.68 Trillion to FG, States, and LGAs for April 2025
The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) has distributed a total of N1.681 trillion to the three tiers of government as revenue allocation for April 2025, the Ministry of Finance confirmed on Friday.
The announcement followed FAAC’s monthly meeting chaired by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, where the committee revealed that the disbursed amount was drawn from a gross revenue of N2.848 trillion.
According to the breakdown, the Federal Government received N565.31 billion, state governments got N556.74 billion, and local government councils were allocated N406.63 billion. Additionally, oil-producing states received N152.55 billion as 13% derivation from mineral revenue.
The communique issued after the meeting noted that revenue sources included statutory revenue, Value Added Tax (VAT), the Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL), and exchange rate gains.
Stronger Revenue Performance in April
April’s gross statutory revenue rose significantly to N2.084 trillion, an increase of N365.6 billion from the N1.718 trillion recorded in March.
From this amount, N73.74 billion was deducted for cost of collection and N1.047 trillion was used for various transfers, interventions, and refunds, leaving N962.88 billion for distribution among the three tiers of government.
From that statutory revenue:
FG received N431.31 billion
States: N218.77 billion
LGAs: N168.66 billion
Derivation (13% to oil-producing states): N144.15 billion
VAT, EMTL and Exchange Gains Also Boost Allocations
The report also showed that VAT revenue for April was N642.27 billion, slightly up from N637.62 billion in March. After deductions for collection and refunds, N598.08 billion was distributed:
FG: N89.71 billion
States: N299.04 billion
LGAs: N209.33 billion
For the Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL), N38.86 billion was disbursed out of a total N40.48 billion collected. Similarly, exchange rate gains contributed N81.41 billion, distributed across the tiers of government, including oil-producing states.
Minister Highlights Need for Revenue Reform
Speaking at the session, Minister Edun emphasized that domestic revenue mobilisation remains central to Nigeria’s sustainable development strategy. He commended FAAC members for their diligence in ensuring timely and transparent revenue allocation.
