Lagos, Nigeria – Popular socialite and entrepreneur Pascal Chibuike Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu still harbors distrust toward him due to his Igbo heritage and his prior support for Peter Obi during the 2023 presidential election.
Speaking candidly in a live interview with popular streamer Peller on Tuesday evening, the nightlife promoter detailed his political journey and the complexities of his relationship with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“Let me tell you, as I am now, Tinubu doesn’t really trust me as an Igbo man. He looks at me with one eye. He is still like, ‘this one that has worked for Peter Obi before,’” Cubana Chief Priest admitted.
Currently serving as the Imo State Coordinator of the City Boys Movement, the businessman explained that his previous support for Obi continues to influence how he is viewed within APC circles. Despite publicly backing Tinubu for the next election, he said he believes Peter Obi cannot defeat the president in 2027.
Earlier, Cubana Chief Priest picked up the APC House of Representatives nomination form to contest the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency seat in Imo State. However, after failing to secure the party’s ticket, he insisted that he never officially contested.
His political shift sparked online reactions, with Nigerians mocking his ambitions and criticizing his understanding of the political landscape. Nevertheless, Seyi Tinubu reportedly encouraged him, noting that temporary setbacks could lead to future political opportunities.
