From ₦200k Fuel Money to ₦1m Gift: Fatomilola Recounts Mr Macaroni’s Kindness
Veteran Yoruba actor Peter Fatomilola has revealed how skit maker and actor Debo Adedayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, surprised him with a ₦1 million payment after they worked together on a film — even though no fee had been negotiated.
Fatomilola shared the story in an upcoming interview with African A-List (AfricanaList), reflecting on memorable experiences in the entertainment industry.
He recalled an earlier encounter with Mr Macaroni at a film location in Fiditi, Oyo State. After completing just two scenes, Fatomilola was paid ₦50,000 by the producer. As he prepared to leave, Mr Macaroni escorted him to his car and handed him no less than ₦200,000 as “fuel money.”
“Help me greet Mr Macaroni, Debo Macaroni, Daddy Wa,” Fatomilola said. “He asked, ‘Uncle Fat, are you done?’ I said yes, and that I was leaving. It was just two scenes. He escorted me to the car and said, ‘Let me give you money for fuel.’ The money wasn’t less than ₦200,000. The person I came to work for paid me ₦50,000.”
Impressed by the gesture, Fatomilola later received another invitation from Mr Macaroni to work on a project in Lekki, Lagos. Upon arrival, he discovered he would be sharing the screen with another Nollywood veteran, Pete Edochie — a “Peter to Peter” pairing, as he described it.
After they finished shooting, Mr Macaroni gave ₦100,000 to Fatomilola’s son and ₦50,000 to his grandchild. The unexpected gifts made the older actor suspect he might also receive something, even though the two had never discussed payment for his role.
It was only after leaving the Lekki location that Fatomilola learnt the full extent of Mr Macaroni’s generosity. When he asked how much had been sent, the reply came: ₦1 million.
“₦1m!” Fatomilola exclaimed, still clearly moved by the surprise.
