Right now, the people of Ogun State are filled with joy and happiness like the blossoming of carnations. The success of their mandate has filled their hearts with delight, spreading throughout their communities and filling their world with cheer.

Once again, the citizens have reason to celebrate and express gratitude for the re-election of Prince Dapo Abiodun as the Executive Governor of Ogun State.

To lessen the blow of the fuel subsidy removal on the people, Governor Abiodun has followed through on his commitment to provide electric motorbikes for those who depend solely on this mode of transportation. This measure is necessary due to the exorbitant cost of transportation in Ogun State and other regions of the country.

Yesterday, while in the Republic of Benin, the governor test drove some of the motorbikes that will soon be distributed to deserving transporters and private commuters in Ogun State. This initiative aims to ease the financial pressure caused by the recent increase in fuel prices.

No sooner did the news hit the social space than the Gateway State erupted with joy. Thanks to Abiodun, the sweet melody of gratitude and rapturous delight pervades the rock city.

Gaiety blooms in the heart of the people and the atmosphere pulses captivatingly, thus reasserting the gospel of Abiodun. At a time too many administrators cringe from the phantom of inflation, among other odds foisted on the country as a result of the removal of the fuel subsidy, Governor Abiodun recommits with astounding passion and discipline to initiatives and exploits certifiable as the cornerstone of governance in Ogun State.

Aside from giving electric motorcycles to riders in the state, Abiodun said his administration has put in measures and plans to facilitate an energy transition plan for Ogun State. “We are going to start converting all our state buses to run on CNG (compressed natural gas). That programme has already commenced. We are actually going to launch what we call our E-Mobility and Gas Mobility Programme sometime around the end of this month or the first week in August,” he disclosed while receiving participants of the Senior Executive Course 45, Group 1 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos, who came on a courtesy call in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, earlier in the week.

The governor said, “Gas mobility is that in which we convert not just our buses to operate on gas, but all mass transit will begin to operate on gas, and our E-mobility is a programme that will make all our motorcycles and tricycles run on electricity. They will be battery-powered. We are going to launch that programme either the last week of this month or the first week of next month.

“We will take the motorcycles from the riders and give them electric-powered motorcycles. This programme will have a cushion effect on what our masses are currently experiencing, and besides that, it will begin a new phase of the dispensation of clean energy, which speaks to the issue of climate change.”

Governor Abiodun stated that his administration would take advantage of the newly signed electricity bill by establishing a company that will generate and distribute power in Ogun, adding that he would also focus on the provision of potable water.

Abiodun is no doubt an accomplished administrator by whose exploits and under whose tutelage a new generation of public administrators cum social engineers has emerged to the benefit of Ogun State.

There is no gainsaying Governor Abiodun during his first four years in office, touched practically all sectors of government, bringing renewed development to Ogun State. This undoubtedly informed the widespread clamour for the continuity of his term in office and his eventual victory at the polls.

The countless achievements of the Abiodun-led administration in Ogun State include his remarkable strides in education, health, and the provision and rehabilitation of public infrastructure.

On Abiodun’s watch, a journey through Ogun State manifests as a pilgrimage of sorts. Whether sojourning by land, sea or air, the sights and seasons of “The Gateway State” emit the shine that diamonds give in a landscape of coarse, leaden stones. Ogun, on Abiodun’s watch, sparkles enchantingly.

Its glitter travels across neighbouring states even as its lustre illumines large, distant tracts beyond its borders. More shining feats have been recorded on Governor Abiodun’s watch since he assumed the governorship seat of the state.

That Abiodun distils splendour out of slog is an open secret. He approaches governance, like a visionary, in a beneficent, all-values-connected sort of context.

Through his first term, for instance, the Ogun State governor gave succour to the voiceless. He heard their cries and responded with compassion – the hallmark of humane leadership.

But he didn’t just listen to the citizenry, he treated every citizen and constituent of his domain as their own planet, rather than simply one of his moons.

Abiodun is an admirable leader who approaches people and communities with curiosity, compassion, grace, and excitement. He encourages a large community of followers to do the same, and it’s a privilege to be alive at the same time as him.
