K1 De Ultimate Responds to Viral Paternity Allegation With Musical Performance
Fuji music icon and Mayegun of Yorubaland, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has found himself at the centre of a viral paternity controversy after a woman publicly alleged that the legendary musician fathered her teenage daughter and abandoned both mother and child.
The allegation, which has generated widespread reactions across social media, stems from a video released by the woman, who claimed she was involved in a seven-year relationship with the celebrated Fuji star. According to her, the relationship resulted in the birth of a daughter, identified as Azizat, now believed to be between 12 and 13 years old.
In the emotional video, the woman alleged that K1 had urged her to terminate the pregnancy when she became pregnant but that she chose to keep the child. She further claimed that the musician has failed to accept responsibility or provide financial support for the girl since her birth.
The controversy intensified after another widely circulated video showed the teenage girl holding a microphone and displaying what many social media users described as remarkable musical talent reminiscent of the Fuji maestro. In the clip, she appealed for assistance to return to school, alleging that her “billionaire father” had neglected her welfare.
Rather than issuing a formal statement or releasing a press statement through his representatives, K1 De Ultimate appeared to respond to the allegation during a live performance at a well-attended social event in Lagos. While entertaining guests, the Fuji legend delivered lyrics that many interpreted as a direct reaction to the claims.
He sang:
“Toba lo yun koyun
Toba lo yun koyun
Toba lo yun koyun
Saara ni.”
The lyrics translate to:
“Any unplanned pregnancy,
Any unplanned pregnancy,
Any unplanned pregnancy,
It’s a free gift.”
The performance quickly circulated online, with many interpreting the lyrics as the musician’s response to the allegations. However, K1 did not directly mention the woman or the teenager during the performance, nor did he specifically address the details of the claims made against him.
The paternity allegation has since fuelled intense debate on social media, where supporters and critics have offered differing opinions on the controversy. While some have urged that the matter be resolved privately or through legal means, others have called for scientific verification should the parties decide to pursue the matter formally.
K1 De Ultimate, one of Africa’s most celebrated indigenous musicians, has built a career spanning several decades and remains one of the continent’s most influential Fuji performers. The multiple award-winning entertainer, who holds revered traditional titles in Yorubaland, continues to command premium performances across Nigeria and abroad.
The veteran musician is also known to have a large family, with several of his children having established careers in professions including law, medicine, business and politics. Despite being in his late sixties, K1 remains active on the music scene, regularly headlining major social events and maintaining a strong influence within Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
As of the time of filing this report, neither K1 De Ultimate nor his management team had issued any official statement beyond the remarks interpreted from his live performance, while the woman behind the allegation has continued to maintain her claims publicly. The controversy remains the subject of intense public discussion, with no independent evidence yet produced to substantiate or disprove the paternity allegation.
