Afrobeats star KCee has urged Nigerians to celebrate and appreciate loved ones while they are still alive following the death of actor Alex Ekubo.

The actor reportedly died on Monday at the age of 40 after battling cancer. His death has continued to spark emotional reactions from fans and colleagues across the entertainment industry.

Reacting via Instagram, KCee lamented the culture of expressing love and admiration only after a person’s death. According to the singer, many people often wait until funerals to share heartfelt tributes instead of supporting others while they are alive and able to feel the impact.

The music star questioned why people withhold appreciation during moments when individuals are struggling, building their careers, or battling personal challenges. He encouraged the public to openly express pride in their loved ones, support their businesses, and pay closer attention to their mental well-being.

KCee stressed that words of encouragement and acts of kindness carry greater value when recipients are alive to hear and experience them. He also called on people to embrace compassion, forgiveness, and genuine human connection before it becomes too late.

“We are all guilty. We’re too good at eulogies and too late with love,” the singer wrote. “Why do we save kind words for funerals instead of telling people how much they matter while they are still here?”

He further urged Nigerians to reconnect with family, friends, and colleagues, noting that the greatest tribute anyone can receive is a life filled with love and support before death.
