2Face Condemns Wizkid-Fela Comparison, Says ‘It’s Ridiculous and Disrespectful’

2Face weighs in on the Wizkid-Fela controversy, describing the comparison as ridiculous, disrespectful to Fela’s legacy, and unfair to Wizkid’s achievements

2Face Declares Wizkid-Fela Comparison ‘Ridiculous and Disrespectful’ Amid Heated Debate

Veteran Nigerian musician Innocent Idibia, better known as 2Face, has weighed in on the ongoing controversy surrounding Wizkid and the late Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, calling any direct comparison between the two artists “ridiculous” and disrespectful.

The debate reignited after Wizkid responded to criticisms from Seun Kuti, who had challenged fans comparing the “Ojuelegba” hitmaker to his father, Fela. Wizkid sparked widespread reactions by asserting that he is “bigger” than the Afrobeat pioneer.

In a preview clip from an upcoming episode of the Mic On podcast, 2Face shared his perspective, stressing that equating the two icons overlooks their vastly different eras, musical journeys, and societal impacts.

“Comparing Fela with Wizkid is ridiculous. Apart from the fact that it is disrespectful to Fela, and at the same time, it is also unfair to Wizkid,” 2Face expressed.

Wizkid

The “African Queen” crooner argued that Fela’s revolutionary role in shaping Afrobeat, activism, and global African consciousness cannot be measured against Wizkid’s modern Afrobeats dominance, international stardom, and commercial success. Placing them side-by-side, he said, diminishes Fela’s unparalleled legacy while setting unrealistic expectations for Wizkid’s own path.

The comment from 2Face—one of Nigeria’s most respected voices in music—adds significant weight to the conversation, as fans and industry observers continue to debate the merits and fairness of generational comparisons in Nigerian music.

The full Mic On podcast episode featuring 2Face’s take is expected to drop soon, promising deeper insights into the evolving landscape of Afrobeats and its roots in Afrobeat. Read More

“APC Is My Natural Home” —  Iyabo Obasanjo Returns to Politics Ahead of 2027 Ogun Elections

Former Senator and daughter of ex-President Obasanjo, Prof. Iyabo Obasanjo, confirms APC membership, cites party turmoil in PDP

“APC Is My Natural Home” — Iyabo Obasanjo Dumps PDP, Returns to Politics Ahead of 2027

Daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo and ex-Senator representing Ogun Central, Prof. Iyabo Obasanjo, has officially confirmed her return to frontline politics, announcing her defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Iyabo described the APC as her “natural home,” effectively ending months of political speculation surrounding her next move after over a decade away from elective politics.

She made the disclosure on Saturday during an interview with Nigerian football legend Segun Odegbami on 103.7FM Eagle7 Sports, monitored by NewsHeadline247 in Abeokuta.

The former senator revealed that her decision to re-enter politics after nearly 15 years was driven by sustained pressure from supporters who had independently mobilised for her return.

“Like I told you, a group of people who I did not bring together, I did not form them into a group, have been working, I think, for two years now,” Iyabo said.

“And then they started talking to me about a year ago, saying, ‘Look, we think you are the best candidate. We want you back.’”

Iyabo Obasanjo, who served as Ogun State Commissioner for Health and later as Senator for Ogun Central between 2007 and 2011, lost her re-election bid in 2011 to Senator Gbenga Obadara of the then Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).

Following the defeat, she relocated to the United States, where she focused on academia and rose to the rank of Professor, effectively stepping away from Nigerian partisan politics.

Explaining why a return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was not an option, Iyabo cited deep-rooted instability within the opposition party.

“I couldn’t go back to the PDP because of all kinds of turmoil,” she said.

She disclosed that she also considered the African Democratic Congress (ADC) but ruled it out due to unresolved internal organisation.

“They don’t have their ducks in a row yet; they’re still working on it,” she noted.

Iyabo said she carried out extensive consultations before settling for the APC, adding that virtually everyone who encouraged and supported her return to politics are now members of the ruling party.

“So, I think APC is my natural home. I don’t have any animosity towards any individual or any group within the APC. I feel comfortable with all the actors I know within the APC,” she said.

“I feel more comfortable, actually, than with some of the actors I know in the PDP… So I think it’s my natural home. I feel quite confident and happy to have made that decision.”

“I have an absolute 100% feeling it’s my natural home.”

NewsHeadline247 further gathered that Iyabo Obasanjo has formally sealed her membership of the APC after participating in the party’s ongoing e-registration exercise at Ibogun, Ward 11, Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Her entry into the APC is widely seen as a significant political development in Ogun State, especially as alignments and power blocs begin to take shape ahead of the fiercely anticipated 2027 elections. Read More

FUNATO Okeho Resumption Date 2026: Pioneer Students Resume March 6, Lectures Begin March 23

The Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho (FUNATO), located in Kajola Local Government Area of Oyo State, has officially set Friday, March 6, 2026, as the resumption date for its pioneer batch of students.

The landmark announcement follows the university’s inaugural statutory Senate meeting held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, where the academic roadmap for the institution’s debut academic session was formally approved.

In a statement issued by the Registrar and Secretary to the University Senate, Amuni Mohammed Olayinka, the Senate based its decision on detailed readiness reports from the University Management and the Committee of Deans and Directors.

“The University Senate, at its 1st (Inaugural) Statutory meeting, received reports from the University Management and Committee of Deans and Directors on the preparedness of the university towards students’ resumption.

“Sequel to the consideration of these reports, the Senate took far-reaching decisions to ensure a smooth resumption and the wellness of students.

“The approved 2025/2026 academic calendar outlines a fast-paced schedule designed to establish the university’s footing within the national academic cycle. Following the March 6 resumption, registration will take place through March 10, followed by an intensive orientation period from March 11 to March 19.”

Formal lectures are scheduled to commence on Monday, March 23, 2026.

The university’s maiden matriculation ceremony for the pioneer students will hold on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.

The first semester examinations are expected to conclude in July 2026, with a short break before the second semester begins on Monday, August 3, 2026. The entire 2025/2026 session is targeted to end by Monday, November 30, 2026, while the subsequent 2026/2027 session is tentatively slated to start on December 14, 2026.

Addressing accommodation concerns in the host community, the university management disclosed plans for student housing through strategic Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangements.

“The University has taken steps to provide hostel accommodation for students through public/private partnership arrangements. The University will provide hostel accommodation within the communities around the University… at reasonable rent rates, properly regulated and secured by the University,” the statement read.

The Registrar also confirmed that matriculation numbers will soon be issued to candidates who have paid their acceptance fees, enabling them to proceed with school fees payment and registration.

Olayinka encouraged prospective students still interested in FUNATO to act quickly: “Candidates who are interested in pursuing their choice programmes in FUNATO still have the opportunity to apply, as the JAMB portal is still very open for the change of their university of choice.”

Pioneer Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olaniyi Babayemi, emphasized the institution’s forward-looking vision: “Our mission is to produce graduates who are not only academically excellent but also entrepreneurially driven, technologically savvy, and prepared to address the complex challenges of the 21st century.”

Established in 2025 following the signing of its enabling bill into law, FUNATO is now in the final stages of welcoming its foundational students. Management has urged all admitted candidates to complete their registration processes promptly to avoid any last-minute issues. Read More

Adron Homes marks 14 years of making homeownership accessible for millions through flexible payments, over 60 estates nationwide, and secure titles—transforming Nigeria’s housing landscape for everyday citizens

14 Years of Democratizing Landownership: How Adron Homes Is Redefining Mass Housing in Nigeria

For decades, homeownership in Nigeria remained an elusive dream for millions, restricted by rising rents, unstable housing markets, and mortgage systems beyond the reach of the average citizen. Fourteen years ago, Adron Homes and Properties Limited set out to challenge this reality with a bold and disruptive vision: to make land and homeownership affordable, accessible, and achievable for everyday Nigerians.

Founded on the principle that housing should be a right and not a privilege, Adron Homes has steadily emerged as one of Nigeria’s most influential mass housing developers. At the heart of its success is an affordability-driven model that prioritizes inclusion without compromising quality. Through flexible payment plans, low initial deposits, and extended installment options, the company has broken long-standing financial barriers that once excluded civil servants, young professionals, artisans, traders, and Nigerians in the diaspora from owning property.

Fourteen years on, this vision has translated into tangible impact across over 60 estates nationwide, strategically located in major and emerging growth corridors including Ibeju-Lekki, Lekki–Epe, Badagry, Shimawa, Papalanto, Sagamu, Abeokuta, Ibadan, Osun, Ekiti, Abuja, Nasarawa, and Niger State. Each estate represents more than infrastructure, it reflects Adron Homes’ commitment to decentralizing development and expanding access to property ownership beyond traditional urban centers.

Through this mass housing initiative, thousands of Nigerians have successfully transitioned from tenants to landlords, many achieving property ownership for the first time. Unlike conventional real estate models that emphasize exclusivity and luxury, Adron Homes has consistently aligned its offerings with the real income realities of the Nigerian population, ensuring that housing solutions remain practical, inclusive, and sustainable.

Beyond affordability, trust has remained a defining pillar of the Adron Homes brand. The company places strong emphasis on secure land titles, transparent documentation, and regulatory compliance, protecting subscribers from land disputes and fraudulent transactions. This focus on integrity has strengthened customer confidence and positioned Adron Homes as a dependable gateway to long-term wealth creation through real estate.

As Adron Homes marks its 14th anniversary, its mass housing journey stands as more than a corporate achievement but a national intervention. By restoring dignity, promoting financial security, and transforming thousands of property ownership dreams into reality, Adron Homes continues to play a vital role in shaping Nigeria’s housing landscape and building a future where more citizens can truly call a place their own. Former INEC Commissioner Says Nigeria Not Ready for Real-Time Electronic Election Results

Former INEC Commissioner Says Nigeria Not Ready for Real-Time Electronic Election Results

Former Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Commissioner, Dr. Mustapha Lecky, has stated that Nigeria is not yet prepared for real-time electronic transmission of election results.

Lecky made the remarks on Friday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, amid ongoing debates over the Senate’s rejection of electronic transmission in the Electoral Act Amendment Bill.

The Senate on Wednesday reportedly turned down a proposed amendment to Clause 60, sub-section 3 of the bill, which sought to make electronic transmission of results compulsory.

Reacting to the development, Dr. Lecky said, “It doesn’t really make sense to me that we should be talking about instantaneous transmission of results as it happens because we don’t do electronic voting anywhere. Nigeria is not yet ready for that.

“You have to think about these things together. It’s not electronic voting. When we do electronic voting, then it can be instantaneous. But if people are still using paper ballots and counting them manually, one by one, the argument for real-time electronic transmission is baseless. We simply don’t need it yet.”

His comments reflect concerns that Nigeria’s current voting infrastructure and processes may not support live transmission of results, raising questions about the feasibility of implementing such reforms ahead of future elections. Read More

Tincan Island Customs Seizes Three Containers of Expired Drugs, Hands Them to NAFDAC

Tincan Island Customs Seizes Three Containers of Expired Drugs, Hands Them to NAFDAC

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Tincan Island Command, has intensified efforts against illicit and expired pharmaceuticals, handing over three containers of prohibited drugs to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

Customs Area Controller at Tincan Island, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, made the disclosure during the formal handover on Friday in Lagos, emphasizing the command’s commitment to public health and national security.

“This marks the formal handover of three 20ft containers of expired pharmaceutical products to NAFDAC for proper regulatory action,” Onyeka said, noting that two containers contained expired Tramadol tablets — one with 86 cartons and the other with 250 cartons — while the third contained 370 cartons of Diclofenac Sodium tablets without valid NAFDAC registration.

Onyeka warned that such consignments are illegal and pose significant risks to public health, reaffirming the command’s proactive measures to intercept controlled pharmaceuticals, arms, ammunition, and other prohibited items.

“The Tincan Island Command is committed to safeguarding public health and economic stability while facilitating legitimate trade. These achievements are a result of discipline, integrity, and strong inter-agency collaboration,” he added.

He commended NAFDAC for its cooperation, highlighting that the partnership helps prevent fake, substandard, and expired drugs from entering the Nigerian market.

Receiving the seized drugs, NAFDAC Chief Regulatory Officer, Mr. Kareem Adekunle, confirmed that the expired products would be destroyed by burning. He also praised Customs for their exemplary collaboration and pledged continued partnership to protect Nigerians’ health.

The Tincan Island Command credited the success to the leadership of Comptroller-General Bashir Adeniyi and assured the public of continued enforcement of anti-smuggling measures nationwide.
“Our command will not relent in combating illicit trade and enforcing compliance with existing laws,” Onyeka said. Read More
