Nigeria’s Super Eagles beat Zambia 1 nil, qualifies for Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have qualified for the FIFA 2018 World Cup in Russia after they pipped Zambia 1-0 at the Akwa Ibom International Stadium in Uyo on Saturday.

The tensed game which saw the Zambian Chipolopolo boys pushing the Eagles to the wall had a dramatic change in the 73rd minute when a goal from Alex Iwobi ensured that the Super Eagles would be at their record sixth appearance at the FIFA World Cup.

Nigeria’s striker, Odion Ighalo, had wasted many begging scoring opportunities in front of goal as lots of chances were missed.

But on his come on from the bench, a superb strike from Iwobi in the 73rd minute of the encounter gave Nigeria the all-important victory in the race to Russia 2018. The Super Eagles garnered as many as 13 points in 5 games which ensured Nigeria’s qualification.

They will play the final match of the group against Algeria next month.
