Olota Receives Leadership Award as Wasiu Fatai Takes Over as 44th Rotary Club of Otta President
The Olota of the Ancient and Paramount Ottaland, Awori Kingdom, His Majesty, Professor Adeyemi Obalanlege, has been honoured with a Leadership Award for his service to humanity and commitment to the development of his people and community.
Oba Obalanlege received the award on Saturday, October 3, 2026, during the investiture and change of leadership ceremony of the Rotary Club of Otta, where Rtn. Wasiu Adewale Fatai was formally installed as the 44th president of the club.
The Principal Secretary to the Olota, Prince Adeyemi Sulaimon Olusesi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday.
The Olota, who served as the Royal Father of the Occasion, was recognised for what the club described as his exemplary leadership and impactful service to humanity, particularly his commitment to the wellbeing and development of the people of Ottaland.
In his remarks, Oba Obalanlege congratulated Fatai, who also holds the traditional title of Baameko of Ancient Ottaland, on his emergence as the club’s 44th president.
The monarch commended the new Rotary president for his commitment to service, dedication to the organisation and leadership qualities, describing his emergence as a reflection of his contributions to the ideals of Rotary.
“As you embark on this new chapter, I wish you continued success in your efforts to uplift and support the people in the community through the prestigious Rotary Club of Otta,” the Olota said.
Oba Obalanlege also urged Fatai to use his tenure to pursue initiatives capable of making a meaningful difference in the lives of residents while advancing the ideals and mission of Rotary International.
He encouraged the new president to remain focused on the administration’s “IMPACT” slogan and use it as a platform for delivering tangible benefits to the community.
The monarch further wished Fatai a successful and impactful tenure and congratulated members of the Rotary Club of Otta on the leadership transition.
The investiture brought together distinguished guests, community leaders and members of the Rotary Club to witness the formal assumption of office by Fatai as the 44th president of the club.
