Olota Condoles Family, Chiefs as Onikooko of Kooko Ebiye Otta, Oba Joel Fashina, Dies
The Olota of Ota, His Majesty Professor Adeyemi Obalanlege, has condoled with the family, chiefs and people of Kooko Ebiye Otta following the death of the Onikooko of Kooko Ebiye Otta, Oba Joel Fashina.
The Onikooko Council of Chiefs formally notified the Olota, the revered monarch of the Ancient and Paramount Ottaland, of the death of Oba Fashina, who has joined his ancestors.
The delegation, led by principal chiefs of the Onikooko-in-Council, paid the visit in accordance with the age-long traditional practice of formally informing the paramount ruler of the passing of a traditional ruler within the Awori Kingdom.
The Principal Secretary to the Olota of Ota, Prince Sulaimon Olusesi, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsheadline247.
According to Olusesi, members of the delegation included High Chief Samson Olapo, Akogun Kooko Ebiye Otta, Awori Kingdom; High Chief Olayinka Oyetoro, Oluwo Kooko Ebiye Otta, Awori Kingdom; High Chief Kamilu Gbeleyi, Bashorun Kooko Ebiye Otta, Awori Kingdom; and the Secretary of the Onikooko-in-Council, Prince Olalekan Fasina.
Olusesi said the Olota commiserated with the immediate family of the late monarch, the Onikooko-in-Council, the chiefs and the entire people of Kooko Ebiye Otta over the loss.
His Majesty described the death of Oba Joel Fashina as a great loss to Kooko Ebiye Otta and the wider Awori Kingdom, particularly given the late monarch’s commitment to the development of his domain and his contributions to the Awori traditional institution.
The Olota expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family and traditional council, while praying that Almighty God would grant the late Onikooko eternal rest and give his family, chiefs and subjects the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Oba Fashina was described as a committed and exemplary traditional ruler whose contributions to the development and progress of Kooko Ebiye Otta were remarkable.
Until his death, the late monarch was also a dedicated member of the Awori Obas Forum, Ogun State, where he contributed to the promotion of unity, peace and development among traditional rulers across the Awori Kingdom.
The family of the late monarch has also publicly announced his passing.
“May Eledumare graciously accept the return of Kabiyesi Onikoko and grant his soul eternal rest.”
