Senator Adams Oshiomhole, representing Edo North Senatorial District, has clarified that Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike is backing President Bola Tinubu rather than the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The former Edo State governor made the remarks on Tuesday during an interview on TVC, addressing the ongoing tension between Wike and some APC governors. The friction escalated after the FCT minister described certain APC governors as “politically lazy.”
Oshiomhole stressed that although Wike is not a member of the APC, he has consistently expressed support for the President.
“Wike is supporting President Tinubu and not the APC,” Oshiomhole said. “The position of some of the APC governors and that of the minister is that they are both unanimous. They are all committed to supporting the re-election of President Tinubu.”
He added that he is comfortable with both sides working towards the same objective.
“I have not heard any side of the argument suggesting that anyone, including the FCT Minister, is opposed to President Tinubu’s re-election. He has said so himself repeatedly that he is not an APC person; he is not a member of the APC, but he supports the President,” Oshiomhole stated.
The clarification comes amid growing political debates within the ruling party over loyalty and strategy ahead of the next general elections.
