The Osile of Oke-Ona Egba, Oba Adedapo Adewale Tejuosho, has denied any family or marital relationship with EFCC-wanted socialite Halimot Tejuosho over an alleged N603.4 million fraud case

Osile of Oke-Ona Egba Distances Self From EFCC-Wanted Halimot Tejuosho Over Alleged N603m Fraud

Adedapo Adewale Tejuoso, the Osile of Oke-Ona Egba, has publicly distanced himself from Halimot Tejuosho, the socialite and politician recently declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over an alleged N603.4 million fraud case.

The monarch moved to clear the air following growing speculation and online reports linking the embattled politician to the royal family.

In a statement issued through his Press Officer, Sesan Bankole, the palace firmly denied claims that Halimot Tejuosho is either the monarch’s wife or a blood relative.

“The attention of His Royal Majesty, Alaiyeluwa Oba Dr Adedapo Adewale Tejuoso, and the palace of the Osile Oke-Ona Egba has been drawn to recent media reports concerning Dr (Mrs) Halimat Adenike Tejuosho,” the statement read.

According to the palace, the suspect currently being investigated by the EFCC has no connection whatsoever to the royal household.

“Let it be made abundantly clear that the embattled politician is neither an Olori (wife) nor a blood relation of Oba Dr Adedapo Adewale Tejuoso. Her name is spelt Tejuosho with an ‘H’, while the family name of Oba Dr Adedapo Adewale Tejuoso is spelt Tejuoso, without an ‘H’,” the statement added.

The clarification follows an announcement by the EFCC declaring Halimot Tejuosho wanted over allegations bordering on obtaining money by false pretence involving the sum of N603.4 million.

Oba Tejuoso also expressed concern over what he described as the spread of misinformation online, revealing that some internet search results, including Google searches, had wrongly associated the suspect with him.

“Dr (Mrs) Halimat Adenike Tejuosho is not related to Oba Dr Adedapo Adewale Tejuoso, Osile Oke-Ona Egba, by marriage, religion or blood. This misinformation should be corrected without delay,” the palace stated.

The monarch further clarified that Adetokunbo Tejuosho, the Olu of Kemta, should also not be mistaken as a member of his family.

According to the palace, Oba Adetokunbo Tejuosho became a coronet Oba in Egbaland a few years ago and currently holds the traditional title of Olu of Kemta on the outskirts of Abeokuta.

“He is not related to Oba Dr Adedapo Adewale Tejuoso, Karunwi III, Oranmiyan, Osile Oke-Ona Egba. Everybody should please take note of the above,” the statement concluded.
