The Senate President Bukola Saraki’s move to accommodate the flag bearer of the Social Democratic Party  (SDP) Iyiola Omisore under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the Osun state re-run election holding on Thursday gives indication that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) may be checkmated in the Land of Virtue.

Newsheadline247 understands Omisore has agreed to work with the PDP in the scheduled re-run election for the successor of outgoing governor Rauf Aregbesola.

This is coming after the Senate president, Saraki, met with Omisore at Ile-Ife on Monday.

“We have agreed to work together because our goals are the same. We all want good governance in Osun State. Over the next 24 hours, we will work out the details,” Saraki tweeted.

Omisore who is the SDP in the election which the candidate of the PDP, Ademola Adeleke, came first with 254, 698 votes while the candidate of the APC, Gboyega Oyetola, came second with 254,345 votes.

the Independent National Electoral Commission, however, said  Adeleke could not be declared the winner of the election because the margin of his victory was only 353 votes, and could not earn him victory when weighed against the number of votes cancelled, which amounted to 3,498 votes.

The polling units which were listed for the re-run election by the INEC includes three polling units in Orolu Local Government Area, two units in Ife South Local Government Area, one in Ife North Local Government Area and one in Osogbo Local Government Area.
