Controversial street-pop singer Portable has revealed that he narrowly escaped a road accident in Ogun State on Thursday night after his vehicle reportedly suffered brake failure.
The singer disclosed that he was forced to steer the car into a ditch to avoid crashing into another vehicle after discovering the brakes were no longer functioning.
Portable shared the incident in a video posted on his Instagram story, expressing gratitude to God for surviving the scare without any injuries.
According to the singer, the accident happened barely a day before the naming ceremony of his newborn son, adding that preparations for the celebration had already been completed.
“Nothing do me oo, I came out unhurt. I suddenly realised that the car had failed brake. My people have arrived here. I thank God they are not here to carry my corpse,” he said.
Portable also revealed that he had purchased two cows for the naming ceremony and thanked God that the incident did not occur while a trailer was passing on the road.
The ceremony is being held for his son with his wife, Bewaji, who welcomed the baby during Portable’s celebrity boxing match against Carter Efe on May 1, 2026.
Ahead of the celebration, the singer had also distributed free Ankara aso ebi fabrics to friends and supporters.
