Tinubu Appoints Titilayo Odusote as Nigerian Law School Director-General
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr Olugbemisola Titilayo Odusote as the new Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, with effect from January 10, 2026, for a four-year term.
Dr Odusote, 57, will make history as the first woman to head the Nigerian Law School since its establishment in 1962. She currently serves as Deputy Director-General and Head of the Lagos Campus of the institution.
She will succeed Professor Isa Hayatu Chiroma, whose tenure as Director-General ends on January 9, 2026, after eight years of service.
Odusote obtained her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from Obafemi Awolowo University and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1988. She later earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.), specialising in Company and Commercial Law, from the same institution.
She also holds a Doctorate degree in Law (PhD) from the University of Surrey, United Kingdom, with academic research interests in Public Law and the administration of justice.
The new Director-General joined the Nigerian Law School in 2001 as a lecturer and has since served in several strategic capacities, including Head of the Academic Department, Director of Academics, and Head of Campus. She was also a visiting scholar at Nottingham Trent University in the UK.
Dr Odusote has published widely in reputable local and international law journals and has presented scholarly papers at numerous legal education conferences. She has equally served on committees of both the Council of Legal Education and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
As Director-General, Odusote will oversee the academic leadership, administrative management, and strategic direction of the Nigerian Law School across its campuses nationwide. She will also act as the institution’s primary liaison with the Council of Legal Education, the Body of Benchers, and the Nigerian Bar Association.
Her appointment is being widely hailed as a landmark moment for gender inclusion and leadership advancement in Nigeria’s legal education system. Read More
