Tinubu reiterated the Federal Government’s willingness to collaborate with Anambra and the Southeast in advancing peace and prosperity

Tinubu Vows to Address Key Development Challenges in Anambra, Southeast

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to tackling critical developmental issues in Anambra State and the broader Southeast region. Among the key areas he highlighted were gully erosion, the exclusion of Anambra from the National Rail Master Plan, and the underutilisation of the region’s abundant gas reserves.

Speaking on Thursday at a civic reception held in his honour at Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, President Tinubu pledged that his administration would prioritize inclusive development and national integration through strategic infrastructure projects.

Responding to Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s appeals, the President acknowledged the long-standing neglect of federal road projects in the State. He specifically promised action on the completion of routes linking Anambra to Kogi State, which he described as vital for improving connectivity between the Southeast, South-South, and Abuja.

“Abandoned federal road projects that link Anambra to Kogi can become the fastest gateway between Abuja and Anambra South and the South-South. I agree,” Tinubu stated.

He also committed to revising the National Rail Master Plan to include Anambra State, directing the Federal Ministry of Transportation to give the matter urgent attention.

“I stand before you to confirm that the Ministry of Transportation is aware and will incorporate the connection into the updated Master Plan,” the President assured.

On ecological concerns, Tinubu promised federal support for erosion control projects and addressed Anambra’s omission from the National Gas Master Plan, emphasizing the state’s significant gas potential.

Commending Governor Soludo’s strides in security and infrastructure, Tinubu reiterated the Federal Government’s willingness to collaborate with Anambra and the Southeast in advancing peace and prosperity.

“With our progressive ideological alliance, we will continue to partner with your state to deliver shared prosperity to Anambra and all Nigerians. As our national anthem says, ‘Though tribes and tongues may differ, in brotherhood we stand.’ We are one family, living in different rooms of the same house called Nigeria,” he said.

During the visit, President Tinubu was bestowed with the traditional title Dikesimba of Anambra State by the state’s traditional rulers, led by Igwe Chidubem Iweka, Chairman of the Traditional Rulers’ Council. He recalled receiving the title Omenife of Awka from Eze Gibson Nwosu in 2005.

President Tinubu also commissioned several landmark projects, including the Emeka Anyaoku Institute for International Studies and Diplomacy at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, and the newly completed Emeka Anyaoku Boulevard. He toured the Solution Fun City—featuring the Anambra Country Club, Family Fun House, Water Park, and Amusement Park—developed under the Soludo administration. Additional unveilings included the Government House Mini City, the Anambra Tour of Light, and statues honoring five of the state’s historical icons: Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Prof. Chinua Achebe, Prof. Kenneth Dike, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, and Mrs. Margaret Ekpo.

In his address, Governor Soludo hailed the President’s visit as “historic and consequential,” noting that it was the first by a sitting president since 2012. He declared it a turning point in federal-state cooperation anchored in shared progressive ideals.

“The projects commissioned today represent the audacity of our vision for a new Anambra. We’ve completed over 500 kilometres of roads, flyovers, and bridges, with even more underway. Like the Americans say, you haven’t seen anything yet,” Soludo said.

The Governor applauded Tinubu’s economic reforms and federal infrastructure efforts—such as the rehabilitation of the Enugu-Onitsha Road, the Second Niger Bridge access roads, and erosion control projects—which he described as transformative for the Southeast.

Soludo also highlighted the ideological synergy between APGA and the APC, emphasizing Anambra’s progressive governance since 2011.

“In Anambra, we are proudly progressive. We’re implementing people-focused programs—free education, maternal healthcare, youth empowerment, and large-scale agriculture—that align with your Renewed Hope Agenda,” he said.

He expressed gratitude for the inclusion of Anambra indigenes in key federal positions and for the establishment of the Southeast Development Commission.

“Mr. President, Anambra does not just support you—we share your vision. For Nigeria’s future, President Tinubu must not only succeed; he must excel. We’re committed to making that happen,” Soludo declared.

Prominent Anambra personalities, including Chief Emeka Anyaoku, Lady Ada Chukwudozie, Sir Emeka Offor, Mr. Rapulu Prince Nwaezekwe, and Emeka Sibeudu, also delivered goodwill messages, reaffirming their support for Tinubu’s leadership and a united, progressive Nigeria. Read More
