‘We’re Not Aligned with Any Party’ – Aregbesola on Mission to Reclaim Osun

Osogbo, Osun State – Former Interior Minister and ex-Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has firmly restated that his political group, the Omoluabi Progressives, is not in alliance with any political party as it sets its sights on reclaiming the leadership of the state.

Aregbesola made the declaration in a heartfelt message of appreciation to dignitaries who attended his 68th birthday celebration, held at the De-Distinguished Events Centre in Osogbo. The event, which followed early morning prayers at his country home, was attended by political allies, traditional leaders, and supporters from across the country.

“By this time next year, we will be looking forward to returning to Abeere,” Aregbesola said, referring to the seat of the Osun State Government. “Let me repeat once more, we are not working for or in any alliance with any existing political party for this objective. We are focused on our resolve to reclaim the government of Osun, In Shaa Allah.”

He described the occasion as more than a celebration—calling it a reaffirmation of unity and commitment to progressive ideals. “Our tendency is deeply rooted in the true tenets of progressivism,” Aregbesola said. “As we are guided by a common interest to reclaim our dear state in the interest of good governance and mass prosperity.”

Touching on social values, the former governor spoke movingly about the importance of motherhood. “Motherhood gives strength, hope, and courage to face life’s challenges,” he said. “It deserves special attention and deliberate policies of support and empowerment.”

Among dignitaries present or represented at the event were the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II; Governor Ademola Adeleke (represented by Dr. Biyi Odunlade); former Secretary to the State Government Alhaji Moshood Adeoti; former Speaker of the Osun House of Assembly Dr. Najeem Salaam; and Chairman of the Omoluabi Progressives, Alhaji Azeez Adesiji.

“I cannot thank those who joined us enough,” Aregbesola said in closing. “Your presence added splendour to the occasion, and I remain deeply grateful.”
