2027: APGA Declares Support for Tinubu, Rules Out Fielding Presidential Candidate

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has officially endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its preferred candidate for the 2027 presidential election, confirming that it will not present its own presidential aspirant.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, clarified that the absence of an APGA presidential candidate on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination portal should not be misconstrued as non-compliance with electoral regulations.

According to Opara, APGA’s National Executive Committee (NEC) reached the decision to support President Tinubu’s second-term bid after extensive consultations across the party.

He explained that the party believes backing Tinubu’s re-election serves Nigeria’s broader national interest, adding that the resolution reflects the collective position of the party’s leadership.

Despite not fielding a presidential candidate, Opara stressed that APGA remains fully engaged in the 2027 electoral process.

He disclosed that the party has successfully submitted the names of its candidates for the National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly elections through the INEC nomination portal.

“We have not uploaded a presidential candidate because the National Executive Committee of the party has already taken a decision to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027,” Opara stated.
