President Bola Tinubu has instructed the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, to develop a template for a new minimum wage.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made this announcement in Abuja on Tuesday following a meeting between a Federal Government delegation and the President regarding the new minimum wage.
“The President has instructed the Minister of Finance to calculate the numbers and report back to him within the next two days, so that we can have some figures ready for negotiations with Labour.
“Mr. President is committed to adopting the recommendations of the committee and is also concerned about the welfare of Nigerians,” he said.
Idris emphasized that the government supports the idea of increasing wages and is not opposed to it.
