King Charles III, on Friday, July 5, announced the official appointment of Keir Starmer, the leader of the Labour Party, as the new prime minister of Britain at Buckingham Palace.
The monarch also accepted the resignation of the conservative leader, Rishi Sunak.
A statement from the palace mentioned that the king received Starmer in an audience and requested him to form a new Administration.
Starmer accepted the offer as the new Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury.
This appointment marked the end of 14 years of right-wing Conservative rule, as the center-left Labour Party won a landslide victory in the general election.
