Public service delivery is not as complex as it may seem; it is a natural force driven by a passionate commitment to holistic development. These qualities are clearly embodied by Senator Solomon Adeola, affectionately known as ‘Yayi.’
As the representative for the Ogun West Senatorial District, Senator Adeola has undoubtedly made a lasting impression on the constituents he serves in the upper chamber of the National Assembly. His innovative approaches to human and infrastructure development in Ogun State resonate throughout the region and, indeed, across the nation.
Arguably, Ado-Odo/Ota has not experienced significant governance-related infrastructure improvements since the inception of this current republic in 1999—until now. Senator Adeola’s extensive experience as a long-serving lawmaker at various levels has equipped him well for this role.
His dedication to delivering the benefits of democracy has been a crucial element in fulfilling the promises he made during his election campaigns.
Looking at the recent surge in infrastructure development within the Ado-Odo/Ota local government, recognized as the industrial heart of Ogun State, it is clear that Yayi has been rapidly revitalizing essential physical infrastructure that has suffered over time, ultimately benefiting the local economy.
In just under a year as the senator for Ogun West, Yayi has significantly influenced various areas of development, including health, education, and road infrastructure.
His remarkable vision for educational advancement has led to the construction of over 100 classrooms, libraries, and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centers across multiple schools in the Ado-Odo/Ota LG.
Yayi, the Aremo of Ilaro Kingdom, Yewaland, has also extended his transformative initiatives to local markets by building more than 500 lock-up shops and open stalls, alleviating challenges faced by market vendors. This effort includes the establishment of administrative blocks for market leaders – the Babalojas and Iyalojas.
Currently, construction is underway for approximately 18 roads throughout the local government, all set to be enhanced with solar streetlights. Additionally, streetlights are being installed along key existing roads within the council.
