Senator Olamilekan Adeola Yayi Launches 2024/25 Scholarship and Bursary Scheme
This expanded initiative underscores Senator Yayi’s dedication to fostering educational growth and empowering young people in Ogun West
Students from Ogun West enrolled in tertiary institutions are encouraged to take advantage of the expanded 2024/25 Scholarship and Bursary Awards program initiated by Senator Olamilekan Adeola Yayi.
The scheme has been significantly upgraded to accommodate a greater number of beneficiaries, ensuring broader access to financial support for education.
This announcement was made by Professor Tope Popoola, Chairman of the Senator Olamilekan Adeola Scholarship Board, during the official launch held in Ilaro.
Prof. Popoola revealed that the number of beneficiaries for both scholarships and bursaries has increased from 1,000 to 2,500 each, reflecting Senator Adeola’s commitment to supporting education in the region. He urged prospective applicants to avoid duplicate registrations, which could result in disqualification.
Chief Dapo Oke, Secretary of the Scholarship Board, emphasized that the scheme is entirely free and warned students not to pay money to anyone or any group claiming to facilitate the application. He encouraged students to visit the official Yayi Scholarship website and ensure accurate submission of required details. According to Chief Oke, all applications will be processed on merit and in line with the scheme’s established guidelines.
Representing the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Dr. Kehinde Olugbenle, the Olu of Imasayi, Oba Dr. Lukmon Kuoye, advised students to prioritize their education and abstain from hooliganism and cultism.
Other notable speakers at the event included Alhaji Azeez Muhammed, the APC Senatorial Chairman; Engr. Akintomide from Yewa South; Chief Samuel Ayedogbon; Aare Engr. Waliu Taiwo from Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government; and APC Woman Leader Olori Adebisi Olaotan. Representatives of the Iyaloja General, Chief Mrs. Yemisi Abass, were also present.
Traditional leaders, represented by the Council of Baales from the five local governments, as well as the coordinators and deputies for Senator Yayi’s initiatives, graced the occasion. Student representatives from the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), the National Youth Council of Nigeria, and the National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS) also attended.
Members of the Scholarship Board offered guidance and practical advice to the students, encouraging them to adopt best practices in their academic pursuits.
