Natasha: Kogi Central Concerned Stakeholders Distance District from Senator’s Actions, May Initiate Recall Process

The Kogi Central Concerned Stakeholders have distanced the district from the ongoing conflict between Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

The group expressed regret that Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has failed to adhere to the standing rules of the Senate. In a statement issued by its convener, AbdulRaheem Adeku, the group also threatened to initiate a recall of the senator if the disputes continue.

The statement reads in part: “As a revered institution of government, it is essential to recognize that the National Assembly has standing rules that must be followed to maintain order. We regret to note that a matter involving simple compliance with these rules has devolved into a vitriolic attack on the character of esteemed Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

“While we acknowledge the considerable support she has received from Senate leadership in recent months, we categorically dissociate ourselves from the inappropriate behavior exhibited by Senator Natasha.

“We expect Senator Natasha to acknowledge her role as an equal among other members of the red chamber, to act as a distinguished representative, to focus on the mandate given to her by her constituents, and to refrain from engaging in actions that offer no benefit to the public.

“As a community, we are known for our gratitude, loyalty, and fidelity to our friendships. Therefore, we condemn the actions, remarks, and smear campaign against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

“This behavior is not representative of our character; thus, the Kogi Central Concerned Stakeholders may be compelled, if this public abuse of her representative privilege continues, to initiate the recall process.

“While we pledge our total support and loyalty to the Senate President and all members of the red chamber, we urge the Senate to implement the established disciplinary measures and take appropriate actions to serve as a deterrent to other serving senators.” Read More
