The ancient town of Ijebu-East came alive on Sunday, October 12, 2025, as Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel, FNSE, FAEng — the Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District — led the BATOGD Movement Midterm Community Assessment and Review (MIDCAR) Tour into the heart of the local government, rallying massive support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.

The visit was nothing short of electrifying. Thousands of jubilant residents trooped out in excitement, chanting solidarity songs and waving banners of Renewed Hope in Action as they welcomed their former governor and respected political leader. The air was filled with optimism and renewed faith in the BATOGD Movement, a grassroots initiative launched by Senator Daniel to mobilize community engagement and strengthen the base of support for the Tinubu administration across Ogun East and beyond.

“This is not just a political rally; it is a feedback and listening tour,” Senator Daniel declared before the mammoth crowd. “The BATOGD Movement represents accountability, transparency, and genuine connection between leadership and the people. It is about showing how President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda is impacting lives directly — not in figures, but in real results.”

The BATOGD Movement, Daniel explained, serves as both a development-focused initiative and a political support base designed to consolidate President Tinubu’s reforms ahead of 2027. The senator noted that the tour allows him and his team to assess progress across communities, identify gaps, and align local development priorities with federal intervention programs.

“Our people need to see and feel government presence,” he said. “This is why the BATOGD Movement is structured around listening to the people, understanding their needs, and working with the Federal Government to deliver meaningful progress.”

Senator Daniel, who served as Governor of Ogun State from 2003 to 2011, reminded the cheering crowd of his administration’s discovery of Nigeria’s largest deposit of bitumen in Ijebu-East. He lamented the years of neglect that followed but assured that hope was returning under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“During my time as governor, our vision was to make Ijebu-East the industrial hub for bitumen exploration and processing — a city buzzing with investment, industries, and jobs,” Daniel recalled. “That dream is coming alive again.”

He announced that the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, led by Mr. Dele Alake, has assured renewed federal attention on harnessing Ijebu-East’s vast bitumen resources, with emphasis on local processing, job creation, and sustainable development.

Senator Daniel highlighted Tinubu’s remarkable reforms in the mining sector — growing revenue from ₦6 billion to ₦38 billion in one year — as evidence of the administration’s effectiveness and the real meaning of Renewed Hope in action.

Senator Daniel also reeled out several grassroots projects executed across the Ogun East Senatorial District, including, solar-powered borehole in Igbaga, Ijebu-Imushin, providing sustainable water access.

Interest-free microcredit schemes and skills acquisition programs empowering women and youth.

Over 4,000 beneficiaries of eye-care interventions, surgeries, and free medical support.

“These are only the beginning,” Daniel emphasized. “Real development must be inclusive, people-driven, and sustainable — reaching from the top to the very last household.”

As chants of “BATOGD! Renewed Hope! Tinubu 2027!” filled the air, Senator Daniel reaffirmed his commitment to bridging the gap between the federal government and the people, assuring that Ijebu-East will soon become a symbol of Nigeria’s new industrial renaissance.

“With President Tinubu’s support and the collaboration of key ministries and investors, we will turn our God-given bitumen wealth into prosperity for our youth, jobs for our people, and infrastructure for our communities,” he said. “Together, we will ensure that the Renewed Hope Agenda continues beyond 2027.”

The Ijebu-East stop of the BATOGD MIDCAR Tour was marked by fanfare, cultural displays, and renewed optimism — a clear indication that the people are ready to stand firmly behind President Tinubu’s vision and Senator Daniel’s leadership. Read More
