Lagos State has recorded another significant step toward boosting its water infrastructure as the final DCI pipe in the Adiyan II Water Project was successfully installed on October 24, 2025.

The development was announced by Tokunbo Wahab, the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, via his official X (formerly Twitter) account, where he described the achievement as “good news from Lagos’ water infrastructure front.”

“The last DCI pipe (pipe no. 944) has been successfully installed yesterday (24th of October, 2025), a major milestone in the ongoing Adiyan II Water Project,” Wahab revealed.

According to him, the 8-kilometre transmission pipeline has now extended to Akute, marking substantial progress in the state’s efforts to expand potable water supply to meet the demands of its fast-growing population.

“Step by step, we are rebuilding and expanding Lagos’ water supply network to meet the needs of our growing population,” he added.

Once fully completed, the Adiyan II Water Project is expected to deliver an additional 70 million gallons of clean, safe water per day to households across Lagos, significantly improving access to potable water and reducing dependence on boreholes and sachet water.

The project forms part of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to modernize infrastructure and enhance the quality of life for Lagos residents through sustainable environmental management and improved public utilities.

The Lagos State Government has consistently highlighted the Adiyan II Water Project as a flagship initiative under its infrastructure renewal plan. While the project has faced previous delays, recent progress — including the confirmed installation of all 944 DCI pipes — has been verified through official government channels and on-site inspections.
