Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has been thrown into mourning following the death of his father-in-law, High Chief Hamza Alimi Majowogbe, the Olu of Ibido-Omu in Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State.
High Chief Majowogbe, the father of the Speaker’s wife, Chief Mrs. Bukola Taibat Obasa, passed away in the early hours of Thursday, August 6, 2026, after a brief illness. He was 95 years old.
The revered traditional leader was laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites during a solemn burial ceremony attended by family members, community leaders, Islamic clerics, and other dignitaries.
Speaker Obasa was present at the burial alongside several members of the Lagos State House of Assembly and close associates to pay their final respects to the late nonagenarian.
In a condolence message, the Speaker expressed sympathy to the entire Majowogbe family, urging them to find comfort in the remarkable legacy left behind by the deceased.
According to Obasa, High Chief Majowogbe lived a life defined by dignity, selfless service, philanthropy, and unwavering commitment to the development of Ibido-Omu and its people.
“We take comfort in the exemplary life he lived and the many lives he touched while with us. I pray that Almighty Allah grants the deceased Al-Jannah Firdaus and gives the family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” the Speaker said.
