COAS Reaffirms Army’s Loyalty to Nigeria, Honours Fallen Heroes in Christmas Message
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General W. Shaibu, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s unwavering loyalty and commitment to the defence of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as he extended Christmas goodwill messages to officers, soldiers, and Nigerians at large.

In his Christmas message, the COAS described the Yuletide as a period of reflection, gratitude, and renewed dedication to national service, stressing that the Army remains resolute in its constitutional mandate to safeguard the nation’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
“Our loyalty and unwavering commitment to the defence of the Federal Republic of Nigeria remain absolute and non-negotiable,” the Lieutenant General declared.

Shaibu paid glowing tribute to fallen officers and soldiers whose gallantry and supreme sacrifices, he said, have continued to make Nigeria safer despite prevailing security challenges. He assured that the Nigerian Army would never forget its heroes, pledging sustained support for their families and loved ones.
According to him, honouring the fallen goes beyond words, adding that the Army remains committed to ensuring that their sacrifices are immortalised through improved welfare schemes and institutional remembrance.
The COAS also expressed profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, for his confidence, strategic leadership, and unwavering support for the Nigerian military.
He noted that under President Tinubu’s leadership, the Nigerian Army has witnessed improved funding for critical operations, enhanced training infrastructure, acquisition of modern military equipment, and strengthened welfare initiatives for personnel.

“These milestones have significantly boosted morale and operational effectiveness across formations and units,” Shaibu said.
He further commended officers and soldiers currently deployed in various theatres of operation nationwide, acknowledging their resilience, professionalism, and sacrifice in the face of danger to ensure peace and stability. Lieutenant General Shaibu concluded by wishing all officers, soldiers, civilian staff of the Nigerian Army, and their families a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year 2026, praying for a year filled with peace, renewed hope, joy, and divine blessings for the nation.
