Maruf Musa Rescue: Gbenga Daniel Applauds Security Agencies, Thanks Ogun People
Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel, representing Ogun East Senatorial District, has expressed profound gratitude to God Almighty for the safe rescue and return of Hon. Maruf Musa, a former member of the Ogun State House of Assembly, who was abducted in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area.
Hon. Musa was kidnapped on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, while praying at about 8:00 pm in Ibiade, Ogun Waterside. He regained his freedom after spending approximately three days in captivity.
In a statement made available to the media on Sunday, Senator Daniel commended the Inspector-General of Police, the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), the Commissioner of Police, the Director of DSS in Ogun State, and other security agencies for their professionalism and swift response.
According to him, the successful rescue was made possible through coordinated intelligence operations, dedication, and tireless efforts, which reaffirmed the commitment of Nigeria’s security institutions to the protection of lives and property.
The former Governor of Ogun State (2003–2011) also expressed deep appreciation to the people of Ogun State—particularly residents of Ogun East Senatorial District—for their prayers, concern, and moral support throughout the ordeal.
He described the outpouring of solidarity as “deeply moving” and a reflection of the enduring unity and faith of the Ogun people.
“This incident was a painful reminder of the fragility of life and the urgent need for sustained collective action against insecurity,” Senator Daniel said.
“However, the safe return of Hon. Maruf Musa strengthens our hope and renews our confidence that with unity, prayer, and professional security engagement, evil will not prevail over our land.”
Senator Daniel further prayed for complete physical, emotional, and psychological healing for Hon. Musa and his family, while reassuring the people of Ogun East and the entire state of his continued commitment to initiatives and collaborations that promote safety, peace, and citizens’ well-being.
He concluded by thanking residents of the state for standing together during the difficult period.
“Once again, thank you, Ogun State.
Thank you for standing together.
Thank you for praying.
Thank you for believing.”
