President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended his condolences to former Kano State Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau, over the death of his elder brother, Mallam Dahiru Shekarau.
In a statement issued Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described the passing of the retired educationist and administrator as “more than a family loss,” noting that his impact resonated beyond his immediate relatives to the broader society.
Tinubu said the late Dahiru Shekarau distinguished himself through decades of dedicated service, contributing to human capital development and strengthening public institutions in Kano State.
The deceased, who died on February 10, 2026, served the state in various capacities within the civil service and rose through the ranks before retiring as a permanent secretary in 2015.
President Tinubu urged the Shekarau family to sustain the late public servant’s tradition of community service and uphold the legacy of integrity he left behind.
He also prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased’s soul and asked God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
