Jandor steps down from the Lagos 2027 governorship race, citing APC unity and backing Kadri Hamzat following President Tinubu’s endorsement
Jandor Steps Down, Backs APC Consensus Candidate
Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has officially withdrawn from the Lagos State governorship race ahead of the 2027 elections, throwing his support behind the leadership direction of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement issued on April 30, 2026, Jandor said his decision followed the endorsement of Kadri Hamzat by party leaders, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The former aspirant, who had earlier obtained his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms, said his ambition was driven by consultations and a genuine desire to serve Lagos State. However, he stressed that unity must outweigh personal ambition.
“This decision is not borne out of weakness or lack of capacity, but out of strength, discipline, and a deep respect for party cohesion and unity,” he stated.
Jandor reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC, pledging unwavering support for President Tinubu, whom he described as pivotal to the stability and progress of both the party and the nation.
He said he was fully aligned with the President’s position on the Lagos governorship process, emphasizing that party supremacy remains essential to sustaining past achievements.
Addressing members of the Lagos4Lagos Movement, Jandor expressed appreciation for their steadfast backing and urged them to remain calm and committed.
“This is a moment to consolidate, not to divide; to build, not to fracture,” he said, calling on supporters to rally behind the party’s chosen path.
Jandor concluded by thanking the media and his supporters across Lagos for their continued engagement and loyalty, assuring them that his commitment to the APC and the development of Lagos remains unwavering.
His withdrawal marks a significant shift in the Lagos 2027 political landscape, reinforcing the APC’s push for unity ahead of the elections.
