Ogun State’s former First Lady, Mrs. Olufunso Amosun, joined top dignitaries and industry leaders at the valedictory lecture and awards ceremony honoring Abimbola Mercy Onakomaiya, who is stepping down as the 15th President of the Professional Insurance Ladies Association (PILA) in June.

Onakomaiya, the Managing Director and CEO of Peakthrust Insurance Brokers Limited, led PILA for two years, from 2024 to 2026. She will hand over to Dr. Joyce Odiachi next month.

The event, held at the Red Carpet Hall in Oniru, Lekki, Lagos, brought together influential figures in the insurance and banking sectors, as well as past and current executives of PILA.

Professor Lere Baale, CEO of the Netherlands Business School, delivered the valedictory lecture, while Mrs. Oluwatoyin Bello, representing the Commissioner for Insurance and CEO of the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), Mr. Olusegun Omoshein, delivered the opening remarks.

Reflecting on her tenure, Onakomaiya said, “Finishing well and finishing strong is just the grace of God. It requires tenacity and focus, but above all, God’s grace.” She added that her next focus would be on financial sustainability, ensuring she remains grounded for her family and the insurance industry.
