Tinubu Orders Intensified Rescue Efforts as Presidency Speaks on Oyo School Abduction

The Presidency has reaffirmed its commitment to securing the safe return of pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, stressing that all ongoing efforts remain firmly focused on bringing the victims home safely.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Digital Communications, Engagement and New Media Strategy, Otega Ogra, made the position known while reacting to Governor Seyi Makinde’s confirmation of sustained federal involvement in efforts to resolve the incident.

Ogra said the collaboration between the Federal Government, the Oyo State Government, security agencies and local stakeholders began immediately after the abduction was reported, following a directive from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“I welcome Governor Seyi Makinde’s confirmation, yesterday, of the sustained federal involvement and daily security coordination that has been underway since the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State,” he said.

Describing the operation as a coordinated national response, the presidential aide stated that President Tinubu had from the outset directed all relevant authorities and stakeholders to work together toward the safe return of the victims.

“This is the collaborative approach President Bola Ahmed Tinubu directed from the outset, bringing together federal and state authorities, security agencies, and local stakeholders towards one overriding objective which is the safe return of every victim,” he further stated.

Ogra maintained that while security operations continue, the wellbeing and safe rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers remain the government’s highest priority.

“The focus remains on bringing our children and teachers home safely and strengthening security across vulnerable communities,” Ogra insisted.

Reiterating the administration’s determination to tackle insecurity nationwide, he declared that criminal groups must not be allowed to define Nigeria or threaten the country’s unity and stability.

“Terrorism, banditry and criminality have no place in Nigeria. They do not represent who we are as a people,” he added.

The presidential aide also urged Nigerians to actively support security agencies by providing timely information on suspicious activities within their communities, noting that public cooperation remains crucial in preventing crime and improving safety.

“If you see something suspicious in your community, say something. Timely information saves lives, strengthens security, and helps protect the people we love,” he urged.

His remarks come as security agencies continue efforts to secure the release of the abducted pupils and teachers while strengthening security measures around vulnerable communities in Oyo State and other parts of the country.
