Army, DSS Raid IPOB Safe House in Enugu, Recover AK-47 Rifles, Ammunition

Troops of the 82 Division Garrison operating under Sector 1 of Operation UDO KA, in collaboration with operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Enugu State, have recorded another breakthrough in the ongoing crackdown on the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), with the discovery of a suspected arms hideout in Enugu State.

The operation, conducted as part of Operation EASTERN SANITY II, is aimed at degrading the combat capabilities of criminal elements and strengthening ongoing peace-building efforts across the South-East region.

According to the Nigerian Army, the latest success followed an earlier operation carried out on June 9, 2026, at Gariki in Enugu South Local Government Area. Building on intelligence gathered during previous operations, troops raided a suspected safe house in Agbani, Nkanu West Local Government Area, where they uncovered what security agencies described as a clandestine arms cache.

A thorough search of the apartment led to the recovery of several weapons and military-related items, including AK-47 rifles, AK-47 magazines, 323 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and 10 pairs of IPOB uniforms.

Military authorities said all recovered exhibits, alongside arrested suspects, have been handed over to the DSS Enugu State Command for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The Army said the operation underscores Operation UDO KA’s determination to sustain pressure on criminal and terrorist networks capable of undermining the fragile peace being restored in the South-East.

“This Operation reflects Operation UDO KA’s unwavering commitment to sustaining offensive actions against criminal and terrorist networks that could undermine the ongoing peace building process in the region,” the statement said.

The military further reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and protecting Nigeria’s sovereignty, while urging residents to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible intelligence.

“Operation UDO KA reaffirms its dedication to protecting citizens and preserving national sovereignty while the public is strongly encouraged to continue providing timely and credible information to security forces. These will enhance the collective efforts to achieve lasting peace and security in the South East,” the statement added.

The statement was signed by Lieutenant Colonel Olabisi Olalekan Ayeni, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 82 Division Nigerian Army.
