‘Leadership Is a Responsibility, Not a Right’ — CUPP Urges Tinubu to Address Nigerians’ Hardships

The Conference of United Political Parties (CUPP) has thrown its weight behind the House of Representatives Minority Caucus’ call on President Bola Tinubu to demonstrate stronger leadership or consider stepping down from office.

In a statement issued on Thursday, CUPP Acting National Chairman, Chief Peter Ameh, said the coalition shares the position of the Minority Caucus and believes the current administration must urgently address the challenges confronting Nigerians.

According to Ameh, governance is a responsibility that demands measurable results, particularly in tackling insecurity, economic difficulties, and the welfare concerns of citizens.

“In a sane society, any elected official who fails to deliver the dividends of good governance and improve the lives of the people should honourably resign,” the statement read.

The coalition stressed that President Tinubu and his administration must take immediate and decisive action to address the country’s mounting security concerns, rising cost of living, and the overall wellbeing of Nigerians.

“Leadership is not a right but a responsibility. Where this responsibility is not being discharged effectively, the honourable path is resignation,” CUPP stated.

The opposition coalition further urged the President to respond to growing public concerns by implementing visible measures aimed at easing the hardship faced by citizens across the country.

CUPP also pledged to continue monitoring political and governance developments, insisting that it would remain vocal in advocating policies and actions that serve the interests of Nigerians.
