Canadian rapper Drake has staked $770,000 (about N1.07 billion) on Canada to defeat South Africa in their Round of 32 clash at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The massive wager was announced on Sunday by sports betting platform Stake, which revealed that the Grammy-winning artist stands to earn $1 million if Canada progresses to the next stage of the tournament.
Sharing details of the bet, Drake also referenced a private exchange with renowned South African DJ Black Coffee, suggesting their conversation inspired his latest gamble.
“#realblackcoffee was chirping in the DM. I had to raise my stakes,” the rapper wrote.
Canada and South Africa are set to face off in a high-stakes knockout fixture, with the winner advancing to the next round of the World Cup.
Drake has become well known for placing eye-catching sports bets through Stake, regularly wagering large sums on major sporting events, including NFL, NBA and UFC contests.
