2027 Ogun Governorship: Yayi Opens Campaign Headquarters, Declares New Phase in Race
The 2027 Ogun State governorship race gathered pace on Sunday as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, inaugurated his ultra-modern four-storey campaign headquarters in Abeokuta, describing the development as the beginning of a new chapter in the electoral contest.
The campaign office, located in the Ibara area of Abeokuta, was commissioned by the Ogun State APC Chairman, Chief Yemisi Sanusi, in the presence of prominent traditional rulers, including the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Aremu Gbadebo; the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle; and the Olubara of Ibara, Oba Jacob Omolade.
The event drew senior APC leaders, former deputy governors, former senators, serving and former lawmakers, government officials, religious leaders and other political stakeholders.
Reflecting on the completion of the project, Adeola said construction of the headquarters began two years ago and had now been completed “to the glory of God.”
According to him, “What happened today in Abeokuta was more than the opening of a campaign office. It was the unveiling of a movement with a clear direction and a bold vision for Ogun State.”
He said the large turnout, organisation and atmosphere at the inauguration underscored growing momentum within the campaign and signalled that “the 2027 governorship election has entered a new phase.”
Adeola said his campaign would be anchored on purposeful leadership, strategic planning, strong grassroots mobilisation and sustained engagement with residents across the state.
He also called on political actors to elevate the quality of the campaign, saying, “The focus should no longer be on noise or personal attacks, but on ideas, achievements, competence and the capacity to deliver.”
He added, “As the race unfolds, every aspirant will have the opportunity to present a record of service and a roadmap for the future. Ultimately, the people of Ogun State will decide based on credibility, performance and trust.”
Declaring that “the politics of 2027 will be different,” Adeola concluded: “One thing is certain: Senator Solomon Adeola (Yayi) is setting the pace.”
Among those who attended the inauguration were the APC deputy governorship candidate, Alhaja Kudirat Adegunwa-Balogun, and her husband, Dr Rasaq Balogun; Secretary to the State Government, Pastor Tokunbo Talabi, who represented Governor Dapo Abiodun; Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Daisi Elemide; former deputy governors Senator Gbenga Kaka, Alhaja Salmot Badru and Prince Segun Adesegun; as well as former Speakers of the House of Assembly, former senators and other party leaders.
